Keen As Campers Rental Terms for travel between Jan. 01, 2007 and Dec. 31, 2010This is a binding agreement between the hirer and Keen As Campers. Minimum rental period The minimum rental period for a Keen As Camper is 7 Days. Late pick up of a camper does not entitle the hirer for a discount or refund.
Late return of a Van will be charged at the maximum daily rate for that season plus additional AU$20 per day. If prior arrangements are made with Keen as Campers, the extra charge of AU$20 per day will be waived.
All Campervans seat 3 passengers, the rear seat is not made for travel and doesn’t have seatbelts. Keen as Campers will not be liable for passengers travelling in rear seat. Calculating Of Rates.
Because vehicles are picked up in the morning between 8-9am and dropped off between 4 - 6pm rates are calculated on a Calendar day basis. So a rental from Monday to Sunday is counted as 8 Calendar days. One way rental Fee A one way rental fee applies to all campers as follows.
Camper pick up is only available in Sydney unless camper relocation is needed.
Currency fluctuations All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Keen As Campers does not accept any liability for variances up or down.
Traffic Infringements Infringements that may occur during the hire period, including,
- Parking tickets
- Speeding tickets
- Toll infringements.
If an above infringement is received during the hire period, the hirer will pay the total infringement cost, and will be liable for a AU$60 administration cost from Keen as Campers. All infringements and administration costs will be charged to the hirer’s credit card.
Cancellation Fees Fees in Percentage of Gross Rates if:
23 days before pick-up - No fee
22 days to 13 days before pick-up - 10% 13 days to 0 days and no show - 40%
If vehicle is returned early - No refund available Payment The preferred payment is CASH. VISA and MasterCard attract a 2.5% surcharge. The 2.5% surcharge will only be charged on the rental amount, not the deposit. A AU$1500 aud deposit is payable on the pick up of the campervan, this is to cover insurance costs in the unlikely event of an accident. The AU$1500aud is returned when the campervan is brought back in good, clean condition. The deposit can either be cash or VISA. Damage to the camper The hirer is liable for any mistreatment to the van including - Large dents and scratches
- Broken interior, cupboards, bedding, appliances
- Large windscreen cracks
- Other broken or mistreated electrical gear
The cost of the damage will be the full cost of repair or replacement and may be taken from the deposit payment.
There is no charge for normal wear and tear such as small scratches. If the hirer does place small scratches on the van, Keen as Campers will look them over and decided if they are non-chargeable. The hirer is responsible for the checking of the vans fluids including Oil and Water. If by any chance the van is damaged from the lack of fluids, the hirer could be liable and costs will be taken from the deposit payment. Important The renter is fully liable for any damage to the Camper or third party property if:
a) The terms of the rental contract are breached.
b) Damage to the vehicle is caused by careless, wilful or reckless driving
c) Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
d) Driving on restricted roads. Restricted roads include 4WD tracks, unsealed roads etc
e) Water submersion or salt-water damage caused through own fault. Each van has an inventory list of supplied items in the van. If the van is returned with items missing, the cost of these items will be taken from the hirer’s deposit. Standard Hire Rates Includes - Unlimited kilometres for all vans
- Full insurance Cover
- All living equipment including Bedding, cutlery, and kitchen wear etc
- 24hr 7Days road side assistance
- Full petrol tank, Full gas bottle
These rates are for Over 21 year old drivers. A AU$10per day charge is payable for under 21 year old drivers. On the return of the van, the petrol tank must be filled, and if the gas bottle has been used, it also must be filled. If either comes back empty, a refill charge applies; this is negotiated with Keen as Campers and will be taken from the hirer’s deposit. Returning the camper The van must be returned in the same condition it left in, this includes; - Full tank of Petrol
- Full LPG cylinder
- Clean interior, clean cutlery etc
- Clean exterior

We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Keen As Campers InsuranceAll insurance is included into the rate. A AU$1500 dollar bond is also payable on pick up. This payment can be either VISA or Cash. This will be used to pay for repairs to your vehicle if it is found you are at fault in a accident. If you are not at fault this excess will be fully refunded.

Pick Up Instructions
You can either make your way to our depot in Artamon (If you catch a trian to Artamon Train Station you will be met there by a representative from Keen As Campers) Or:
You can be picked up from an inner city Hotel or hostel between 8 - 9am on the morning of your rental for an extra one off charge of AU$20. This additional option can be selected on the first page of the booking process
Drop offs
Drop Offs are generally between 4 - 6pm and can be 7 days a week. Drop off proceedure will be finalised with Keen As Campers before beginning your trip but generally all Syudney drop offs must be back to the physical depot in Artarmon, Sydney. With drop offs to Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth you will be met at an Airport or Hotel by a representative from Keen As Campers. |
